I have a KAB 4 burner with a custom windscreen that reduces the distance between to the bottom of the pot to 1". Several times now for no apparent reason a yellow flame came out of the air adjustment shutter. The first time was in conjunction with the tank kickong so I attributed it to pressure fluxuations. I am heating my strike water now and it happened again with a tank that was 1/2 full. What am I doing wrong? I fear that i may melt through the gas line and hage a genuine hazardous condition.

Seems pretty clear you have reduced the exhaust area to the point that the trapped heat is affecting the combustion process. You're going to need to increase the gap...

Cheers!
