Hi Everyone!

Brewing since '93. Look to help out if possible. Referred by a friend. Will flesh out the profile in a few days.

I was informed by a homebrew supply expert that I should use 100% rauch malt when I brewed. The problem is that if I hadn't added 5# of 2-row, I wouldn't have had any conversion at all. Instead, I got a 70 gravity but the sample tastes "light". What is the diastatic power of Rauch malt?

Do you mean an entire malt bill with rauch? would nt that just make a beer that tasted like an ashtray? That just doesn't seem right...

Also, I think that smoking the malt doesn't really affect the diastatic power of the malt and you should get similar sugars from smoke that you would from 2 row...

(I double checked with beer smith2 it's fairly similar.)
