Haven't brewed in several months and forgot my pitcher is 2 quarts, not 1.

Instead of pouring 13 quarts into the mash tun, I poured in 26. Temperature isn't all that far off, but the problem is that the total water volume is supposed to be about 28 quarts, so now I have only about 2 quarts left for sparge.

Can I deal with this with some extra stirring or am I going to be stuck with very poor efficiency?

You're essentially doing a no sparge. Many do so with good efficiency. I'd do a quick read on some of those threads.

So you have 26 quarts? How much grain is in there? Just figure your new water/grain ratio and like someone said above, it will be a no sparge. Just drain it off when it is done and then sparge a little more water to get what you need. Or, just top off to get what you need for boil. Should be fine.

10 lbs grain. It's a hefeweizen.

It hit the mash temp (154) perfectly which surprised me.

Thanks for the advise. I'll let it go 80-90 minutes and stir it well.

Will hope for the best. So far my other mistakes turned out fine. I think this whole process is amazingly forgiving, but I suspect it's the difference between "good enough" beer and "great".

Thanks!

Well, that's 2.6 qt/lb. Shouldn't be a problem. With grain absorption I figure you'll get just at 5.25 gallons (not counting for tun loss) from that. Not sure what volume you are looking for but you can easily add some more water to get your preboil, or sparge whatever more you need.
