I brewed an American Cream Ale kit from brewer's best about 6 weeks ago. I tried my first one today. I was shooting for a beer that was drinkable, but this beer turned out more than drinkable; it is freaking delicious. Consider me hooked!

Isn't is awesome!!!!!????? Stand back, hold up the glass, and say it out loud: "I made THIS!" It's so awesome tasting a great beer that you made yourself. That's what causes the obsession, I think!

Great to have you. Many of us are hooked as you are. This story brings a smile to my face.

Now stand up, introduce yourself and declare to the whole group that you are a homebrewer.... just like at the AA meetings. :)

I'm extremely impressed that you waited the whole six weeks to taste one! Congratulations!

As am I! I just cracked open a bottle of my first brew - an English bitter. It's been in the bottle for 3 weeks, but I couldn't resist a taste.

It's coming along well - a little over-carbonated and a bit green tasting, but I think it'll get there in a couple of weeks.

I called my LHBS when i ran into (what i thought was a) snag, and he give me the lowdown on fermentation and bottling. Luckily, that "snag" occurred because if i had followed the kit, I would have been bottling by day 5 and drinking it by day 19.

I recently started, I have my second batch in secondary, and my first batch (NB American Wheat) is down to only 18 bottles left! I tried it after a week in the bottle, and while it had little head and was half carbonated, it was quite good. Each week it has gotten better, and now its just so darn delicious :)

Give your beer time in the bottle, and, short of an infection, I bet it gets better and better :)

Kinda brings a tear to my eye. Congrats on your brew! Welcome aboard! I just LOVE reading these stories. I recall my own elation at my first brew and I envy you the feeling!

congrats......

Don't you just love it when you drink a beer you made and it tastes great. Welcome to the addiction. I have not bought any beer ( except for research) since I got my pipeline going.

Now go and buy a couple of more fermenters and brew more.

Hey gang,

My first was very recently as well. It was a 2 gal Mr Beer, Pale Ale, not only was it awesome, my neighbor who didn't know I made it wanted to know where he could buy it, then I told him. :cross:

Since 2 gals is the same work as a 5 gal batch and most recipes are geared towards 5 gals, my wife said, why don't you just buy a 5 gal setup. :mug:

My second batch of Hef is in the bottle as of last Wednesday and another batch of Hef is in the fermenter right now.

Congrats and have fun

I'm having a beer I bottled off the keg about 2 weeks ago. I'm not going to lie. It's about 80% flat.

BUT, it was so tasty, I don't mind. My local homebrew club is meeting for the first time tomorrow, and that makes me happy. This little note made me smile as well.

Happy weekend all!
