I was looking into a chest to control my temps for my ales and started looking. I found any easy idea of just insulated board sheathing and building a box to hold one or maybe two carboys. I can not just have two going i wanted up to eight. I called some wood workers and got quotes for 580 - 2000 all which was understood. I decided to just move my brew room to another that has a closet that was not being used. And for 80 dollars and some loose wood laying around it turned out pretty good. Would have been 65 but i needed a staple gun and staples.

Ordered a johnson hope that the insulation is thick enough. It is a fancy foiled bubble wrap with foil tape.

So what did you build this for if you have a freezer, for keeping the fermentation from getting too cold?

I buildt it because my freezer is for my kegs.

Soooooo.....freezer is for kegs/serving-I get that.

You built a fermentation chamber and have a Ranco for controlling temps. What are you controlling exactly?

...like pulling teeth here....:D

I live in cape cod and my basement in the winter can get below 60 degrees. So in order to keep my brewing set up all together i built this to maintain closer to 70 for ales.

Still haven't answered broadbill's question - what are you controlling with the Ranco? A small heater?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....it all makes sense now. Was wondering what that thing was in the picture. Nice setup.
