Hi everyone, just got my Keezer up and running today! I have some sparkling water carbing up and some canned beer on the compressor hump while I’m waiting for my Hefeweizen to finish fermenting.

I went with a 7 cubic foot freezer and built my collar tall enough so I can add a 4th keg on the hump if I like. It fits 3 on the floor real nice.

I made the lid and collar double hinged, and wow does it make it nice getting the kegs in and out.

I definitely have some add ons planned. Notably a nitro setup, drip tray, air recirculation, dehumidifier, and some minor hardware like some drawer pulls for handles, and a hard mounted bottle opener.

Looks good. If I may ask, what are you doing to seal between the two lid faces you have?
Thanks.

So far, I cut the insulation on the sides low enough that the insulation on the underside of the lid sits on top of the collar insulation panels, so it makes an insulated box with the lid closed. I have some leftover weather stripping from the freezer to collar install, but the collar to lid didn’t seem to need it.

I added the insulation with the whole lid and collar upside down before attaching it to the freezer. I rough cut it to size and trimmed it to fit with a knife when installing it to get a good fit. The upside down install made sure the underside of the lid rests on top of the side wall insulation without gapping.

ok, beware of moisture as you get into actually using it. You may want to add some dessicant packets.
I’ll check out the desiccant packs. I was considering one of those EVA dry ones on Amazon that have the silica gel in them, and you plug them in to recharge (I guess heats up and expels the moisture).

Very nice. It looks like you've built yours in much the same way as I did. I also have mine on a base with casters to hold the keezer and tank. Mine also uses two sets of hinges, so the top lifts as does the collar. And I also made my collar high enough to fit a corny on the hump. I like the fact that you built a little box for the CO2 tank, I didn't do that. I just have a ratcheting strap that holds the tank against the keezer. Nice job, you're going to love it.

Thanks!

I took heavy inspiration from people on this forum, it’s entirely possible your build was part of that.

The tank cubbies were my solution for having a little kid in the house, I didn’t need anyone getting crushed with the tank. Ratchet straps would work good too. The other cubby is empty and really needs a nitro tank.
