I'd imagine it would be a lot easier for JK to control/manage the event on a Thursday than during typical JK weekend hours. Especially since this time around they will be selling Cantillon bottles.

You're absolutely right. JK has been scheduling regular events these past few months on "off days" i.e. outside their regular Fri-Sun hours, for beer dinners, special releases etc.; this not only helps them solve the issue of cannabalizing their own revenue stream due to too much popularity during releases on the weekend (long wait lines = losing casual guests) but also allows them to be more strict about entry requirements (Zwanze Day- I.D. MUST match reserved ticket). Having the events on weekdays allows them more control over attendees & also offers them a separate day to sell to either a restricted number of guests or folks who don't mind waiting in line for a particular beer.

In short, the answer to "Why on a Thursday" is because they have become so popular, and it's a good business move. Not so complicated.

That being said, I hate lines. But I am still considering heading out there tomorrow for the Cabinet release; that beer is one of the best JK has done IMO. I put my entry in for Zwanze day & I hate lines. I will wake up hungover & I hate lines. At least it looks like the restrooms are done.

Just watch out... the older bottles I've had were overcarbed when new and have only gotten worse with age.
