Not yet but it might be the last bottle I open from him because the most recent 4 we got sound absolutely terrible.
Any idea if it's barrel aged? I threw away my bottle and can't find any confirmation online but I've seen a few reviews mention "a lot of barrel flavor". I thought it was good but nothing amazing, had an odd waxy mouthfeel like BA Dark Lords. Lots of coconut though.

Master Blaster wasn't barrel aged.

Why does the "rasberry" BA stout sound terrible? I mean i guess it depends if you like fruited stouts. I happen to really like Backyard Rye, Regal, etc. so I'll trade with any former OGs who don't want it.

I will say that the BA quad is surprisingly good, although obviously disappointing for a $50 members only bottle. BA saison is awful. Don't know about the baltic porter, but don't think that sounds bad either, though obviously not what anyone probably hoped for going in.

I had master blaster. It was fine, for the adjuncts mentioned it was definitely nothing special, but just a well done stout. Not that it was a member bottle, but also had Harbinger, I though the Hazelnut tasted just way over the top fake, but some other guys at the share thought it was good. I preferred the more subtle Master Blaster, but would take a good amount of stouts over them.

Wakefield sent some employee goons to comment on my FB review of him. These appear to be their new talking points:

"My dude, you do know it takes about a year or more just to open up a new business, let a lone a brewery that requires many permits, construction, and a lot of back and forth with the city. Now add that all the beers for the OG's are barrel aged which on its own is an 8 month process. That's not even adding the weeks of fermentation of the beer before it even gets barreled. Sounds like the beers were delivered right on time.

I understand that OG's also received over $100 of exclusive merchandise not available to the public.
After dealing with the many challenges faced, and all the feedback both good and bad, a tough decision was made to end the OG Society at 1 year. Thankfully I don't need your dollar to survive as I work hard following a dream and a passion that I share with a devoted team and fellow colleagues in the industry.

I wouldn't get so butt hurt and start talking trash about a start up company
, let alone an individual and hard working team that faced many challenges to bring the community the amazing beers that are being release. Such a shame. You good sir, along with all the trolls are the poison in the good world of the beer community."

So I learned a few things:

1) Kettle sours are barrel aged for 8 months
2) The T-shirt we got was valued at $100
3) Screwing people over this bad is hard work
4) Many permits, such back and forth

I'll give him this, it's verrry difficult to get anything built in Miami without money to grease the wheels. Concrete Beach and Wynwood Brewing both faced similar plights, and Concrete had Jim Koch backing them.

The brewery isn't closing any time soon if people keep paying $9 for a snifter of kettle soured fruited berliner and lining up to pay $20/bottle for those berliners.

Those berliners are pricey, but at least the base beers are still pretty cheap considering the area ($5/pint in Wynwood? Not bad at all)

Yeah I had a Master Blaster, was pleasant but not something i'd go out of my way for.

I would definitely be over there more often if the berliners were cheaper, but the other prices are pretty normal.

I'll see you in line early on Saturday I guess.

so I'll trade with any former OGs who don't want it.

Fuuuck, I hate the style, I'd be all over this if I could.

Even two of Wynwood's best-known breweries are looking to set up full-scale breweries outside of their neighborhood as they are squeezed by rents and space constraint.

J. Wakefield Brewing is looking to build a brewery for production only that would make it the largest south of Tampa's Cigar City Brewing, and twice as big as Oakland Park's Funky Buddha Brewery -- capable of brewing a massive 45,000-50,000 barrels of beer a year, according to founder Johnathan Wakefield.

I hope he starts an OG club round 2 to fund this. I mean no one in their right mind would join in, but it'd be great.

I'd join round 2 as long as it met some conditions:

1. A set number of beers with consistent hints that there may be many more.
2. Surprises throughout the year.
3. He'll hold my bottles until I can pick them up.
4. He'll ship me the round 2 glass.
5. A t-shirt with a much larger O.G font
6. A special one-off beer only for round 2 members... plus Torst and some people who drop by the taproom
7. Upside-down labels, loose caps, and bottles that are sometimes 750ml, sometimes 710ml, and sometimes 760ml

So the release was a success. Han Shot First was a favorite for sure, the ghost peppers taking a back seat to the vanilla and chocolate as it warmed. Desperado doing great work again, and in second place for me. Moral Imperative was a close third, the coffee did well, but the other two slightly outshone it.

Those that got shut out were given the opportunity to buy Miami Madness, which was nice. A few line cutters aside, overall the release process was smooth!

Got shut out of bottles even after being within the first 120 in line, which is frustrating but Miami Madness is a nice consolation prize.

Favorites of the stouts were Moral > Han > Desperado. This round of Desperado was overkill on cinnamon for me, which should hopefully settle down with time in the bottle. Best beer was a 50/50 blend of Desperado and Moral Imperative.

The release could have been done better but could have also been worse.

Got shut out of bottles even after being within the first 120 in line, .

Did everyone with a wristband get the stouts? I'm guessing you knew you were within 120 because you were less than 20 people back from the last wristband that was handed out?

Yeah I'm pretty sure they got through all the wristbands at least. I was pretty close to the end of the wristbands. Also, multiple people counted early on and I was around 100. Also, apparently one of the employees said they had a couple extra cases of each of the beers, so I really didn't expect to be shut out.

Apparently the people doing the crossfit work out were able to get first picking at bottles? Had I known I would have just woken up later and sacrificed my joints a bit to be able to get the beer I came for. Now I know for next time!

For the non-locals, having crossfit right before a bottle release is just as ridiculous as it sounds.
