Is this worth buying? (and what is it?)

There's a guy on Craigslist selling all this stuff for $175. Can anyone tell me what it is, and if it's worth buying? I know I could use a few of the perlick faucets, and probably some of the cornelius quick disconnects, but the regulators look ancient. I have no clue what the black things are next to the regulators...

Any insight into this would be truly appreciated. Thanks!

Those images are not loading for me, but right-clicking them lets me look at them. I must have screwed something up.

There should be some question mark images. I don't know why they aren't loading.

I'd never pay $175 for 3 red X's when I can make them myself.

But, based on your description, there is nothing wrong with "ancient" regulators. They all work on the same principles of restricted flow. So long as rebuild kits are available for the model they are as good as new.

As to the black things. Just guessing but, in older days, pressure reliefs were inline on the gas side. Usually by way of a 3 port fitting. At the end of the black cylider there is likely a small button that can be pressed to relieve the pressure manually.

Pretty common in days before built in reliefs on regs and kegs.

Well, that worked but it's huge. The "black things" are in the top picture. Sorry for inconveniencing you all with my newbie-ness!

Okay. Definitely want to replace the guages but, if rebuild kits are available the regs look to be fine.

The black things are not pressure reliefs. My gues is that they are inline flow restrictors.

These days the flow is restricted at the fountain head on Soda systems. I suspect that is an old school flow restrictor. It's common to carbonate soda at 30psi or better and then restrict the flow to the fountain to manage a slower pour rate.

Are you sure those are Perlicks? I don't think I'd pay more than $50 for that pile of stuff.

+1 That's a lot of stuff for sure, but much of it appears to be rather beat up. You may never use most of it. I don't think I would even go as far as the $50. No way I would pay the $175.

Doh. I didn;t even look at the faucets.

Yeah. Pass. If it isn;t forward seal it isn;t worth it in a home draught system. Too many problems with siezed faucets and snapping shafts.

Dont pay over 50 for that stuff. Its not JUNK, but its sure as hell isnt worth anything over 100.

I think they're perlicks, but you're right, it's not worth $175 for sure.
Thanks!

Those are not perlicks. They're just normal faucets (unless maybe perlick makes a normal faucet? :drunk: ) Those gas QDs are beat. But that's a lot of misc. parts - all the pipe thread pieces and everything. Though overall, I'd say it's a hard lay down, but best to fold this one.

Thanks again everyone! Looks like I'll pass this one up. Don't want to offend the guy with a "fair offer."

Perlick used to make a normal faucet.

I was going to say that those don't look like perlicks but I forgot to click on page 2 and didn't read the whole thread. Now I can't figure out how to delete. Oh well.
