I just got a ~15 cubic ft Whirlpool freezer off a local sales board for $100 and need to get a controller for it. I'd like to start doing lagers as well as accurately controlling my ale's, this freezer should easily fit 4 better bottles. Is there a better deal then Pex Supply? I'm not too worried about having to wire up a $5 extension cord.

Electric BIAB.
I was thinking I could set the controller to 155 in my (as yet to be made) kettle.......

Sorry not likely, where are you going to place the probe? Unless you are recirculating w/ a pump, temp contol would be suspect at best?? Or not even close??

Ahhhh......this is why I come here, people saving me from myself by pointing out the blindingly obvious!

I would have had a holey pot and a scorched mess..........thanks!

Also I'm not sure what the probe is rated for. The controller is rated for 220F but the probe being plastic may not hold up to that.

Not sure if PexSupply has the cheapest prices, but I can vouch for the customer service. Wifey ordered the wrong one and I exchanged it no questions asked. A lot of places are weird returning electronics.
