I brewed this beer yesterday after tinkering with orfys mild recipe for quite a while now. I'm just wondering what this beer would be called now???

5 gallon batch 70%
OG:1.053
FG: hopefully around 1.016??
IBUs:25.2
SRM:25.8
ABV:4.84

Mashed @157 for 70

7lbs marris otter
2lbs crystal 60
.6 lbs chocolate malt
.8 lbs flaked oats

60 minute boil

.3 oz pearl @ first wort
1 oz mt hood @ 45

Nottingham yeast
Fermented in a chest freezer set @ 58

Thanks for the info, and what ever this style is called, I'll be drinking it!!!

It's weird how you can tinker with a beer recipe enough where all the sudden you are not even brewing the same beer anymore...

I'd go for Winter Warmer, which is just a strong mild. I've seen milds from 2% to 12% abv, but people just call them different things. Hard to tell apart a pale stout from a double mild anyway. Just don't age it.

I have been doing quite a bit of FWH and use perle in my kolsch. You could bump up that amount to .75 or 1oz. The books tell you to figure FWH as a 20 min addition, that's what I do but you'll never really know the IBU impact unless it is measured in lab. This technique really smooths out the bitterness.
