I noticed a whitish color on top of my kombucha jar today. The bulk of the scoby is at the bottom of the jar but this is at the top. Could this be young mold? Thanks

I haven't made any Kombucha. If that were in my beer I would be concerned. Good luck with it.

Might be a tad late, but that looks normal to me. The mold I've gotten in the past looks very superimposed on top of the scoby, as opposed to being part of the scoby itself (which is what your photo looks like).
If in doubt, just let it sit for longer, and if it is truly mold you'll see it develop out of hand and get obviously funky looking. But that's easy for me to say because I like a really sour kombucha ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yup, to me too, completely normal!
