So, I used some raisins in secondary to try to get some better mouth feel, etc. I noticed that the airlock wasn't really bubbling at all, but I figured it was secondary, maybe it wouldn't be that active.

When I cracked open the bucket to bottle, I noticed a layer of white splotches on the top. You can see the soaked raisins, but it's the white stuff I'm concerned about. It doesn't smell funny, but I haven't tasted it.

Is this something to be concerned about?

Almost looks like they were waxed. I believe raisins have wild yeast and maybe bacteria on their surface, which is why some people add them at the beginning of fermentation instead of cultured yeast. Looks like some kind of wild infection to me. Hopefully yeast and not some nasty bacteria.
Rack to bottling bucket beneath that layer and do your best to not suck any of that up.
Good luck, hope it turns out well.

Is there a way to tell if it is an infection, aside from drinking it and seeing if I get sick? I just tasted a sample. Didn't taste great, but also didn't taste particularly off...
