My preference is either the better bottle or a carboy, as long as they are the right size to reduce headspace. I lager in a 5 gallon carboy, but I wouldn't hesitate to use a better bottle.
I'll jump in here and add an add on question to those who have posted. What makes you like the bottling bucket better or what is it that makes you prefer the better bottle? Ease of clean up? I'm trying to learn what the differences are here too.
I like glass, due to the fact that I can clean it easily, and do not have to worry about scratches. I have used buckets a few times. I love to watch the progress as it ferments too, which is great in the glass.
For me it was ease of clean up. Next it was cost. My LHBS originally had them $15 more than a carboy and they talked you into glass. Today they have BBs for the cost of glass.
One reason I avoid the glass carboys is due to glass breakage and safety. They got slick when I use Star San on them before...
If I were to pick up a BB I'd opt for the racking port personally.
