So I have had an issue in my first few kegs that goes something like this... I take the co2 out to push sanatizer through and what not for a couple hours, after kegging I set to 12 psi and then put in the fridge. I check it the next morning and it suddenly reads 15 psi or so. I adjust back down and it usually stays put there. I am still not sure why it gets pushed higher but having to readjust doesn't seem like too big a deal. Until now!

I did the same routine and left it alone but when after a week of carbing my pours seemed very fast and the foam was out of control I opened the door to find that my psi was now just under 20 and I had over carbed! What the hell!?!?

Any ideas? My thought was that the guave reads different once the co2 tank had warmed up a bit?

Sounds like your regulator is not performing as it should. I would either rebuild it (get a rebuild kit), call your vendor and talk to them & see if they will replace it or just replace the unit with a better regulator. Something is wrong as you are suspecting.

Thank you so much for your input. I don't think it sounds like it is functioning right but other threads have stated that creeping pressure for a day or so is normal.

Creeping pressure is not ok, I guess what is normal is if you set it at 12 psi and gas is flowing the guage will read slightly lower and once everything equals out and gas is no longer flowing into the keg the gauge will read a bit higher than what you thought you set it at. Creep where the gauge steadly goes up over the days is not ok and would suggest that something is causing the poppet to stick open very slightly, could be dirt or something or a seal in need of replacment. If it is new contact who you bought it from for a replacement, if it old contact the manufacturer, or a distributor, for a rebuild kit.
Good luck!

It has done this since day one but what is weird is it doesn't creep up continuously... Just 5 or 10 psi and then stops. It will rise for a few hours then stop.

I have had it for a couple months and purchased from keg connection. Not sure if they will replace at this point.

I agree with mattd2. I recently had a regulator that did the same thing and it drove me nuts. I replaced it with a better quality unit and it performs as expected, no creeping. I still plan on rebuilding the old one to have as a backup though.
