I purchased a capper at my LHBS and got it home. It worked great for the first 20 bottles or so, and then suddenly started slipping and bending caps. I was able to finish, but had to concentrate intently to make every thing was lined up perfect and the pressure was evenly distributed on both handles. Is it broken? Have others experienced similar?

If it is a Wing capper (the kind you hold in your hands), then it could be broken. Sometimes the plastic fails. I recommend getting a bench capper if you think you will be bottling for a long time. They aren't much more and are much better at the job.
