I was checking the gravity of my beer last night and totaly forgot to put the air lock back on. The beer has finished fermenting and is 9 days old. It is in a conical not a carboy. I put the airlock back in this morning but it was open over 12 hours. Is the beer ruined?

Chances are its fine - it'll have a good co2 blanket on top from fermentation which will give it some protection, and if it's already fermented out the alcohol will give it a little more.

But out of curiosity, if it's in a conical, why pull the airlock? No integrated racking cane/tube?

When I open the valve to take a sample, if I don't pull the airlock, it siphons the sanitiser out of it. This is only the 2nd batch done in the conical, I have to get used to the way it works.
