Is it wrong for me to be this damn excited over the 2 used glass 6.5's that I just bought off Ebay because now I have the primaries I've wanted instead of a plastic bucket?

Maybe, because this pushes brewday back another week or so, and... I still have only the one secondary.

However, I can get a 5 for another secondary easily locally. The 6.5 was a bit more of a challenge, and definitely harder to find here. AND I can now convert the plastic bucket to a bottler with the addition of a spigot. And with the basement setup I'm cooking up, contact with the brew should be held to a minimum...

If it's wrong, someone better tell me... SWMBO just shakes her head at me... I'm just chuckling and pretty giddy over the whole damn concept.... :cross:

Nope, you're beer will definitely be better for it. Now you'll be inclined to do longer secondary, and you don't have to worry about plastic harboring bugs. :)

Nice score (provided you didn't pay too much!).

Nothing wrong with that at all. I picked up two 23L carboys today that my buddy was selling in his garage sale for $8! SWMBO shakes her head at me too. Partly for buying tons of stuff and partly because I walk around munching on malted grain all day, because I have a huge sack of it sitting in the basement!

I wanted to get away from the plastic for that very reason... too many chances for contamination. With shipping, both ran me 50 bucks. With no offense intended to any of the online sites, 1 with shipping would have run me almost the same amount from them, so i'm figuring it was a good deal all the way around... (the guy still has a ton of them on ebay too, and mine are apparently shipping today! :mug: )

SWMBO muttered something at me about "2 glass jugs, what's in it for me?" She knows nothing about the little surpirse road trip to Chicago I'm cooking up just to get her out of town and a break from our high octane 2 year old!

Chairman, that's not the grain you got at the brewpub is it? ;)

AHEM...

:ban: :ban:

There be 6.5's here!!!

And they are completely different... The first I opened is yer basic clear glass carboy... The second is a little shorter, but fatter than the other with a slight blue tinge to the glass...

I named them Ian and Adam after my two sons, and in the order that I opened them as applicable to their ages... Different, yet mine.

Ize be a happy man tonight.... :D

Congratulations, now get em filled up. Do you know whats in line for them first?

Still planning an Irish Red Ale to get things in high gear...

But I won't be able to wait, so I'm planning what I call "Phokital Cream Ale" to kick things off. No one I know brews. I'm it. So I gotta get some people turned on...

However...

While drinking mass-produced nonsense with my neighbor tonight I told him what was in the boxes that were delivered and what they were for. He eyeballed me and said "reallllly.... That's something I might be interested in...."

He's a manic mechanic and has everything I need to help me build something to go AG with...

I may have another convert on my hands.... :D
