Is it legal to send booze from canada to the united states ?

I have some good friends in the states who i would like to send some beer and wine to , just wondering If it's legal , since I would not do anything illegal

I know people send beer to Craigtube from the states and he's in Canada, but it's hit or miss if it gets there to him. unsure of the legality.

I checked at work today and as I understand it if you ship it canadapost it will get transferred to usps, which is illegal under us postal laws, however, it is not illegal to ship to/import into the united states you will just need to use a carrier that will do it, i.e. UPS
