Just got my first crusty old tome, can't wait to solo dome it in a dark damp basement.

Also doming the new d'lapes. Smell from the bottle was just like a limed corona. Once poured the lime have way to the funky saison. This just touches me in all the right places. The taste is like a Mexican beach during spring break, you don't even know her name, it's late, you're lost and have no money left, majestic!

When your words are capable of precisely capturing and describing that tometastic moment, I dont even get mad about your sideways pictures.

Just in case this is useful to anyone trying to figure out what batch(es) they have: Jonathan from Etre told me the February 2016 bottles have black caps, and the newer April 2016 bottles have gold/plain caps.
I thought this was the case myself. Bought the 2 black caps they had sitting on the table at the brewery.....score

22 year old tome with a listed 6.5% abv. This bottle is just beautiful. It has a tropical aroma like some lambic blends have and then the flavor is all witbier and fantome house funk. Zero negative age/oxidative character to this which is unreal. Every sip has something crazy different to pick up on.

For what it's worth, last weekend I opened a Fantome 'Ete I had purchased from Blackwell's about 2.5 years ago. Completely flat, and a drain pour. One we had opened fairly soon after the shipment arrived was good, so I have to assume the quality control or whatever was somewhat lacking on that batch.

Was one dark and one trillium?

New 16 Printemps is pretty nice, similar to 14 in the herbal profile but with a big bitter lemon flavor. At the start it really reminds me of some of the older ones that have that almost bitter quinine bite. Not sure if people are familiar with bitter lemon tonic, but similar. Upcoming is the Diapes, new Apr Sur Lie, new Chocolat, and new Bon Bons.

Anyone know if all the February 16 Sur Lie/Saison bottles have the black cap? Saw that mentioned, but the ones I have that I thought were the Feb bottles don't have that, regular silver cap.

Ideas or reviews on that batch? Might need to try and trade for some. If you have a black cap bottle hit me up, lots of Fantome or De Garde bottles to trade.
