Some fun vintage Fantome that was cracked at a local tasting a few weekends ago.

Cheers!

The latest batch of Ete was not distributed to the US, right? I think that's what DanyP said earlier. I ask because a certain retailer is listing it for sale and I am wondering if they got this by ordering online and reselling for a profit. I don't want to call anyone out if I'm mistaken and they got this through legit means...

What are they charging for it? That should tell you pretty quickly.

But, I mean, same store gets in "shipments" of 375ml Cantillon Belgian flag gueuze at least once a month they sell for $25. So...

Really? My local shop has it on the shelf for $15.99. Figured it hit distro. Seems like a pretty decent price all things considered. Unfortunately the bottle I just opened is flat as ****. Ugly ass beer, flat as all hell, but tastes great. A little carb would have done this beer wonders. Bummer.

I was under the impression this was not coming to the US via distro based on what Dany mentioned and also because shelton did not whore their logo on the label like they like to do...

15-16 bucks is a pretty awesome price that I would pay regardless of how the seller got it. Seriously, if they took matters in their own hands to secure that beer and then only charge that much good on them. That is less than what yearly distro'd Noel costs us here in PA.

Having said that...I dont know the place you are referring to but on facebook I have seen as least 2 different places advertising it as "just in stock" and it leads me to think that this did in fact see some distro.

.. many too old to be sold by shelton...

The newest batch is indeed significantly darker than the last. Here is my pic from the same barch you posted (as a reference using the same camera and lighting)

There appears to be both an amber and "orange" version of ete. The bottle of 1996 ete I drank with 1v1willwreku was just as dark as this new batch.

However, I also drank a '93 and '94 that were much lighter and golden orange colored.

If im not mistaken... Dunt dontdrinkbeer tectactoe KWMiles all drank the '06ish yellow label and it too was darker amber like this batch

Edit: ok technically not the same lighting because my flash was on today... but you get the drift. Also, i just put the old orange label beside the new one and they are close but not the same color. The new one has a best by 2017 date on the side, extra wording across the top and the orange color is darker almost reddish orange while then old is blaze hunter orange.
very incredible to can find all these now...

Just opened a bottle of 'Ete... Flat as can be. It tasted sweet like a bottle of my Homebrew that didn't carbonate after 3 weeks... I wanted to like it but drinking fermented syrup is not beer. I have another bottle that I'm going to cellar for a couple of months or so before I drink it.

Kill this thread.

If anyone needs to talk it's DDB, Stakem, dunt, perhops and the tome rolling crew

Enough of this

its too late man everyone caught on to things like fantome on the shelf, i used to be able to hit up shops in west ny and just grab tilquin turding it up now i dont even come across oud beersel wtf beer is becoming a rat race. ***** wack

you cali heads seriously don't know how good you have it, ete is just chillin on the shelves? what the ****

Haha not quite.. Sold out within about 30 minutes of hitting the shelf at this particular store. I just was lucky enough to grab 3 along with 2 bottles of pissenlit. Wouldn't be surprised if it is sitting on a shelf elsewhere though, half of the dipshits who are "into beer" here don't even know what fantome is. Which is definitely fine with me!

Last years noel and pissenlit along with an even older noel have just been sitting on shelves for over a year while I slowly buy them up. Just amazing how slow they move but I ain't complaining!

Exactly.. A pretty well known craft beer store here locally had multiple cases of saison turd it up for at least 6 months last year. Bought one every two weeks or so and for a while seemed to be the only one grabbing it! That being said, about a third of the bottles tasted like a tire fire.
