Where have you ever heard "tropical" before? In about 500 years of beer history, where have you ever heard “juicy” before?

I'm all for progression and understand vernacular is ever flowing and changing, but if someone describes a beer as cat piss, I doubt I'm in a hurry to try it.Times have changed. People have embraced the cat piss.
Proposed new words to use as adjectives for hop character:“Dank” and “juicy” are 2 of the most over used words whenever anybody talks about hops, and personally I can’t stand either word. Dank to me means pot or cannabis. I’m not a pothead and I don’t want that in my beer. If you want juicy go buy some juicy juice and drink it out of the little box through your little plastic straw.
Seriously, there are so many new hops that so many of us have never tried. The word descriptions don’t help. Its time we found some new words.
With all due respect,I sometimes read tasting notes for a whiskey that mentions "leather" and "tobacco." I don't want to drink something that smells or tastes like the Marlboro Man's saddle.
I know they're trying to be esoteric, but some of these comparisons are just silly.
With all do respect,
if you spend the time to actually evaluate these tastings with an open mind, you might recognize these traits as well.
"leather" and "tobacco" are characteristics universally associated with oak barrel aging. Whether it's spirits or wine or whatever.
Don't dismiss something cuz it didn't come from you.
Mama always said, "If you can't say nothin' nice, then don't say nothin' ".A "From-High-Above-as-a-Primarily-Wine-Guy" soap box moment....
- just cuz someone says "horse sweat" or "barnyard" or "cannabis" or "cat piss" or "dank" or "what-ever-the-frigggg" DOES NOT mean that is all that is being offered in aroma or palate. It's just a distinguishable element. DON'T over-react.
- yes, some people are more sensitive to certain aromas than others [cat-pee, petrol, mercaptan], and others more sensitive to taste characteristics [bitter, umami, acidity, tannin]
- when you can smell/taste a beverage & you can de-cipher different aromas & flavor characteristics, use that as your baseline of what brings joy, & what does not but is ok, and what brings you disappointment.

Not everything is 100% terrible or 100% awesome.

Just enjoy the journey.
I am sooooo sorry...
I didn't recognize when you were being intelligent, or just intrinsically ignorant....
My bad.
[I hope I didn't ruin you're funny post -- Francis]
or maybe a shot or 2 of marlboro man saddle.Somebody needs a hug...

Yeah I had just finished 3 straight doubles at the restaurant on Mother's Day weekend & was a little edgy I guess.

My bad guys.
