Brewed an extract with speciality grains version of this that turned out good. Anything you would change?
Here's an AG version:
5.5 Gallon Batch, assuming 70% efficiency.
10lbs Marris Otter Crisp (3.75L)
4oz UK Roasted (550L)
4oz Simpsons Golden Naked Oats (10L)
10oz UK Cara malt (17.5L)
1lb Honey (Goes in after wort has chilled to about 120-130*)
.5oz East Kent Goldings at 60
1oz Fuggles at 30
1tsp Irish Moss at 15
Mash for 60 mins at 154 at 1.8qt/lb = 5gals
Single batch sparge 3.6 gals (stir 5mins and rest for 15mins then drain)
Wyeast 1084 Irish Ale. 2-stage 2L starter (.5L gets harvested).
Preboil Volume: ~7gals
Boil time: 60mins
Preboil gravity: 1.048
OG: 1.061
FG: 1.016
ABV: 5.8%
IBU: 21
SRM: 17
RO water built as follows (going for a malty profile):
Ca+2 Mg+2 Na+ Cl- SO4-2 HCO
64.5 9.1 12.1 107.5 70.2 0.000
Should yield mash pH of about 5.5
Ferment in primary at 68 degrees for ~21 days then bottle.
I'll be brewing in about 2 weeks. So I've got time to tweak. Would you mash lower? Ferment higher? I'm wanting a nice malty flavor with just enough hops.
