I really liked the results of making a CA common with 2112, and have been wondering about brewing an IPA or IPL with it.

Here's my idea for an IPL:

9# US 2 row or german pils
1.5# munich
.5# carapils
.125# weyermann melanoidin

.5oz cascade 6.6% AA @ 60
1oz simcoe 12%AA @ 15
1oz Citra 12%AA @ 5

dry hop with .5 citra and .5 simcoe for 5 days.

I plan on mashing at 152 for 60, and 60 min boil or 90 if using pilsner malt.

I'm mainly concerned as how 2112 would do with this beer as I've only had hydrometer samples from the CA common I'm cold conditioning currently.

Thanks for the input.

Oh I also plan on fermenting around 60-62 for 12-14 days then raising to ~70 for a diacetyl rest, and onto secondary/dry hopping

It should be fine, 2112 is not the most attenuative strain, so it depends on how dry you want it. You dont have much crystal, and the dry hopping is restrained, so I think you will be fine. But if you want it bone dry, lower the mash temp or use a different strain.

And Id use the pilsner malt.
