It's high time I introduce myself to the group: I'm a relatively new homebrewer from Las Vegas, NV. I dabbled in the hobby a few years back but really got down to business during this past winter. I have a couple beers people actually like to drink and I'm always stoked to brew my next batch.
I have a question for those of you who brew in hot climates (the coldest spot on my property from May to November is my garage and there's no way it's cooler than 77 degrees): do you suspend brewing in the hot months or do you use a fridge or freezer with a after-market thermostat for fermenting and conditioning?
Thanks all!

I use a wine fridge all the time. About to convert a stand up freezer for a 14 gallon spike conical. If the wife lets me.

Welcome to HomeBrewTalk. You'll find a lot of good information, and many knowledgeable and helpful brewers here.

A chest freezer with an add on temperature controller not only lets you brew when it's warm, but tight temperature control during fermenting will improve the quality of your beers. It's also a lot less work than using a swamp cooler, which is a lower cost, low tech solution for fermentation temp control.

Welcome to HBT! Listen to this guy...he knows his stuff!

Also, I agree with everyone so far...fridge/freezer with temperature controller...get the perfect temps for fermenting which leads to better beer!
