What do you use to insulate your probe on the side of a carboy, and how do you attach it? I've been taping the probe to the carboy, then covering it with a larger "patch" of doubled bubble wrap (small bubbles). The tape on the probe holds it firmly in place...but the patch keeps coming loose.

Also, has anyone come across a probe that will work with Inkbird 308, with a disconnect jack somewhere on the cord? Would be much easier to put the probe on the carboy, put the carboy in the chamber, and then just plug the cord together.

Thanks!

I used to fold an washcloth several times so it was about 1/2 inch thick. Then I would use masking tape to hold it in place. I then got a strap of velcro. For Christmas I got a thermowell. It's first use might be this week or early next.

I tape mine on the side and then take a piece of pipe insulation (cut in half lengthwise) and then duct tape it real well over the probe.

I use pads of inch thick closed cell foam scavenged from product packaging and velcro straps...

The Inkbird uses an NTC probe which is fairly insensitive to wire lengths.
One could cut in a connector set and splice in extra length without even worrying about polarity never mind length or conductor type...

Cheers!

I use a doubled over piece of reflectix or bubble wrap then I use a old belt or compression strap to hold it in place

I use a piece of closed-cell foam that has a small channel cut into it to accommodate the temp probe.

I use this to press against the fermenter with a bungee cord.

I used a similar approach with a piece of pink foam insulation board.
I later found that, at least in my setup, there is a couple-degree difference between reading there vs. putting the probe down into the wort/beer through a hole in the bung.
