Inkbird temp location

New to the Keezer world. Right now I have my inkbird temp sensor in a gallon of water. Just poked a small hole in the lid and dropped it in. The plastic Gallon Jug sits on the bottom between 2 kegs, not on the compressor hump. Is that the ideal set up to maintain good temps or should I be doing something else?

I placed mine in the air about 12 inches from the bottom, NOT touching anything. I also set the freezer to the lowest (least cooling) setting since if I put it any higher it would swing FAR below my target range.

My keezer is maintaining it's 2F +/- of my target temperature. It doesn't run much, or for long, to maintain that. I did add some 1/2" thick neoprene 'insulation' (adhesive backed) to the inside of most of the collar over the weekend. That seemed to have helped a bit with how often it runs.


I suspect that as I get more kegs in there, it will have less run times due to thermal mass increasing. At least once everything is at temperature.

fwiw, I strap my controller probe to the side of the fullest keg in the keezer under a pad of inch thick closed cell foam.
My keezer cycles 5 times each day with an on-time of ~1:15...

Hah! Just noticed the room temp plot. I had the window behind the keezer open as I was brewing today and need the make-up air to counter my brew rig exhaust system...
