This is day 5 of a brew I did using leftover yeast. Leftover meaning I did a 1 gallon batch a couple weeks ago using half a S-04, then this 1 gal batch using the remainder. I haven’t seen something like this yet and it doesn’t look like a pellicle from pictures I’ve seen.

Will all that eventually settle to the bottom with the trub then? If that’s break material I certainly have never seen so much and never sitting so well on top.
 
Well, it's "beer", there's not a heck of a lot that cap could be :)
Did you use a good shot of irish moss/whirlfloc on that batch? Sure looks like it.

Anyway, once the beer stops evolving CO2 it'll likely sink on its own, but if not if you drop the temperature by ~10°F at that point it'll sink like a rock...

I had half a tablet of whirfloc that went in. But good to know and thanks for the help! I’ll wait and see if it drops on its own or I’ll cold crash before I bottle.
