No matter which homebrew shop you support it does not matter. Just remember to "Support your Local Homebrew Shop". Where would we be without them?
No offense Mrs Rose, but that's some mighty fine talking out of both sides of your mouth.

To answer your question (since I don't have a LHBS), I'd be ordering from a reputable online supplier like Austin Homebrew Supply, get a good quality crush, good customer service, and be a satisfied customer. :D

If I did have a LHBS that sucked, I wouldn't use them. Period. I don't blame Ryan one bit if he never darkens the doors of the Winemaker's Shop again.

So you must not be that busy if you've got time to lurk around an internet forum trying to defend some HB shop. Guess those hackers and terrorists are taking a break.

Yes, I know another new user. I am also a memeber of the KOBB. I was the first female member and have been a part of the homebrew community for almost 3 years. I have been involved in the Bluebonnet competition, The Celtic, I have entered the Iron Mash the last 3 years and I took a BJCP class.

I guess what is so surprising to me is all the anger and hostility. Most of the homebrewers I know are some of the most friendly people I know. They are also willing to give some advice to help in your progress as well as share a great beer with you. It is a community. No matter which homebrew shop you support it does not matter. Just remember to "Support your Local Homebrew Shop". Where would we be without them?

Jennifer Rose
Arlington Texas
(yes from a different IP address)

I don't have a local homebrew shop, so I order on the internet. So, where am I without a local shop? I've done 39 batches over the past year...all without a LHBS.

Furthermore, supporting a local shop just because they're local, even if they're sh*tty, doesn't make sense. If people keep on supporting the sh*tty shops just for the sake of supporting them, then nobody better will bother to come along and compete for your business.

It is MS Rose but I prefer Jennifer (Rose is my ex's last name)...

so an Aggie buying things from Austin, huh!?;)

Austin Homebrew shop is also another fine shop as well is the Winemaker Shop, Dr. Jeckyl's, Homebrew Headquarters and countless others...

All my point is whatever floats your boat...just don't rock the others...

Honestly, the multiple posts from the same IP supporting this store really makes this shop look bad. I mean, really, really bad. They would have been far better off not posting at all and better off yet simply fixing the situation.

Yes it does. childish comes to mind..

Hey SuperSpy,

Carry on posting and you'll become a border line member rather than a spammer.

I do what I can.

Fair enough, MS Jennifer. ;)

BTW, if any of you ever get to visit AHS personally, you may have a new appreciation of what a homebrew shop should be. That really is a fine shop.

And don't start the A&M/TU thing. This web server can't handle the flames. :D

Not my problem at the moment. Currently back home on leave. Hoping to taste a few beers we don't get on the island and spend some time lurking around internet forums.

Simply giving my opinion about a shop and people I find to be dedicated to the hobby. Yes, I have an affiliation with them. I buy supplies there...and I like them. I was told about the thread and I thought I'd throw in my two cents. It didn't occur to me that this would be a problem.

So we dont have a teleportation device that allows you to all have the same IP. Damn!

So all you guys that say they are a great shop, please explain to me how this is even a half ass crush?

Honest opinions are never a problem. When we get three VERY similar ones from three brand new users in a very short time-span, it looks suspicious. ESPECIALLY when they're from the same IP.

Looks like unpopped popcorn.

My LHBS crushes a little big, I lost 2% over AHS...nothing like that even. Even with the blurry picture!

Not saying you didn't get a bad crush, the pic is blurry but I can see what looks to be many grains that are very much intact. I don't think anyone is arguing that your claims are unfounded, I've just been voicing my opinion of a LHBS that I have done business with.

It's just odd that you (and/or others) would go to such lengths to defend this store. Joining the forum (multiple times), having others do the same, just to save face seems to be a bit extreme. All the owner had to do was say come back in and lets work it out. Wouldn't this be less of a hassle? Even if Ryan is wrong (not that I think he is), Isn't it better business to just suck it up.

I think every one with something to say on the matter has done so and the thread is going no where.

Noob's stick around and use your accounts.
Ryan, I hope you find a store you can use.
