I'll be brewing an IPA tonight that has Simcoe, Horizon, and Amarillo hops. I'm going to head over the the LHBS to pick up some hops for dry hopping and was wondering if I should go with one of the three hops I'm using or try a different type to add another dimension to the beer, and if so, which one and how much?

An ounce or two of the simcoe or amarillo (or both) would work great. Simcoe for a more piney resinous aroma, and amarillo for a more citrus floral aroma. I have dry hopped with both and have had good results.

Thanks all. Great advice. I think I'll go with 1/2 oz. Simcoe and 1/2 oz. Amarillo. Should be a great summer brew if all goes well. Speaking of, its boiling right now so I'd better get my butt away from the computer.

Cheers. :mug:

I just dry hopped my IPA with Centennial, Cascade, and Amarillo 16g each. I'm adding another 16g each tonight after the first week

I'm brewing a rye IPA this weekend... I was originally going to dry hop with Williamette... but after talking to my local homebrew guy... he actually made the same exact recommendation... 1/2 oz. Simcoe and 1/2 oz. Amarillo.

Either it's really good advice... or Bob is on this message board. :mug:

I would go with a full ounce of each, but that's just me. :)

I'm going with 1/2 oz. each because I'm using pellets. I'm sure if I used whole hops I would probably go with a full ounce each also, buy my LHBS guy said pellets would work fine for dry hopping and that 1/2 oz. each would be sufficient. Hopefully that's true because I'm tossing them in today.
