About a week and a half ago I bottled my first fruit beer. It is a raspberry wheat. Since this was my first time adding fruit, I was slightly concerned about infection especially since I chose not to pasteurize. I had them carbing in our bedroom since it happens to be the warmest room in the house. When I checked on them the other day and noticed about a quarter of my bottles had bubbles in the headspace of the bottles. Right away I am like oh no, I can't believe I have an infection.

After showing my wife and mulling about for an hour complaining over this, I thought the best bet would be to probably dump them because I was afraid they might turn into bottle bombs.

After thinking this was it, I complained even more to SWMBO, and also mentioned how it was strange that only the bottles I had stacked on top were showing these bubbles, she decides to throw it out there and say "oh I wonder if something happened to them when your daughter got in there and knocked some of them down today"? Ugh, gee you think?!?! The next day all the bubbles had gone away.

I couldn't believe how close I was to needlessly ditching my beer!! Chalk that up to another lesson learned in the life of a home brewer and also that my one year old daughter is now past that passive stage!! Whew.
