I think I live in a meth lab. Seriously.

I didn't bother reading all the posts, but under NORMAL conditons aren't apartments usually fully cleaned and painted prior to anyone new moving in...???

Only if you're lucky. I believe that in most areas, the apartment should be cleaned and the walls should be in decent shape (not necessarily freshly painted). But in my experience, few landlords do this....

Apartment 1: When I showed up to move in, it was like the former tenant never even moved out. There were two girls there before us. One just up and left a month or two prior to move in with her boyfriend and left EVERYTHING behind. The second girl just moved her own stuff out. So my room mate, my mom, and I had to move all their crap outside and totally clean the place. On the plus side, we got various free crap and got some money taken off of rent after arguing with the landlord. But that was a mess.

Apartment 2: Was in decent shape since the previous tenants were living there while they helped the landlord fix the place up.

Apartment 3: Was in very good shape. Landlord there takes excellent care of their properties it seems. Any problem I had was addressed within 24 hours.

Apartment 4: Another mess. The older tenants were moving out as we moved in (we knew we were going to be moving on the same day, but we expected them to be OUT by the time we showed up). Place was a mess, and landlord hired someone to come in and clean & paint. People who did the cleaning & painting did a half ass job and I just got tired of dealing with it.

Apartment 5: Cleanliness wise, in good shape. We had to paint, but we volunteered to.

ok almost afraid to ask (haven't read all the posts). ARE you or a pimply-faced-snaggle-toothed room mate cooking meth in your apartment? if not then you should have nothing to worry about. the idiot that is actually cooking the meth has the problem. in any case i think its time to think about moving. meth fumes are bad for your brew .... not to mention your health.

For anybody interested, I just got the lab results back with NONE DETECTED. Woohoo, I don't live in a methlab, seriously!

If it wasn't a methlab then what was it???

The mystery continues...

I am betting on 12 college friends bunking up in the same house. A mess is a mess. :)

Rename your apt to something awesome now. Maybe not awesome, but I'd call it brew-lab. Yeah, I'm lame.

I'm guess I'm glad to hear you're not living in a meth lab, but let's be honest, this was as big of a letdown as this thread. :(

Seriously, though, glad to hear you'll be ok.

hey, stop the car. in the pictures on pg 1, the guy just had 50 quarts of heet (methanol for gas to not freeze and solubalize water), paint thinners, and a bunch of schwaggg. there could have been a logical explanation. but of the labs ive seen, it definately was one.

Unless you didn't swab the floor underneath your stove. That's where I would hide methamphetamines.

Glad to see the placebo kit alleviated your fears :D

Yeah, I just read this whole thread with great anticipation. While I'm glad the OP doesn't live in a meth lab (sort of, a little, I guess) I have to admit that it'd be way more entertaining if he did.

Yep. I've been reading through this for awhile myself....just wondering

Jerk, glad it worked out.

All time #1 thread though

because of this thread, i bought a 42" white lab coat for my brewing work. now i just gotta order the blichmann elbow length gloves.

DIY your own full arm gloves, black garbage, pink kitchen gloves, and duct tape. Gives you more of an authentic meth lab feel.
