I agree, leave the lagers for later....they take a lot of care and patience.

My wife bought me a 7 gal tamale pot from target for 30 bucks and a basic kit with an autosiphon (get one!) And no secondary when i first started out...get a good thermometer, and your set is taken care of for awhile. Once i moved to all grain, the tamale pot turned into a hot liquor tun.

Keep reading, and keep asking questions! And I'll agree, a blonde ale is a great place to start!

OK, I need to go to the liquor store now and try and find this type of ale mentioned (kolsch or blonde ale) to see if I like it. I understand that any item not mass produced always costs more.

+1 to all the members who posted here hats off to you guys! Great Forum!

OK I just tested some Ale and I have to say I kinda liked it a lot and just to get my feet wet I bought my first basic beer brewing kit for $65 bucks and this extract (link bellow) and some corn sugar. I did not want to place orders at two shops so my extract selection was limited, I'll try others latter on. I wont have enough bottles right off so half will be bottled in some big plastic seltzer water bottles and 24 in long necks......wish me luck! :)
