I really need to stop drinkin this stuff. I've been reading more and more that diet coke is so bad for you. The aspartame alone is poison, never mind all the other crap in it. I don't drink a ton of it, maybe one to three cans a day. I drink a lot of water and workout almost everyday. It's those few cans a day that gets me. What do you guys drink other than water and Beer?? I need to find something else. I was drinking Gatorade, but too much sugar. I guess if it's not water, it's bad. I need to find something better than diet coke.

As I'm writing this, I'm drinking fresh can of D coke...ahhh!! good. It's like I'm addicted..:D

One to three cans a day sounds like a lot to me. I really like soda (or as we call it, "pop"), but I try to only have one or two cans a week. I know I'm in the minority on that. I work with a guy who has three or four 20 ounce bottles of Mountain Dew a day!

I drink a 44 oz -50oz diet pepsi/coke a day. I can stop at anytime. I'll stop when I want too. You can't make me stop. Leave me alone.................................... I'm still in denial.

I'll stop......tomorrow.

When I gave up drinking soda, I switched over to seltzer water (cans). No calories or sweeteners and it is just as refreshing. Costs a lot less too. I can't stand regular soda anymore, tastes too sweet.

Man, I wish I could have only one or two a week. I was reading an article that said, Mountain Dew has brominated vegetable oil—a toxic flame retardant—to keep the artificial flavoring from separating from the rest of the liquid and pretty hazardous stuff. I guess I can stop drinking DC, but I get so sick of water all the time.

I mostly like Cola. And a good root beer here and there...

I switched from soda to iced tea years ago. I drink iced tea or water in most situations where I would have had pop in the past.

I thought the obvious choice would be coffee.....tea too sometimes. Nothing like an assortment of brewed beverages.

I've never tried coffee or tea. I'm a soda drinker. When people like my wife get their coffee in the morning I'd have a D coke.

I try and drink lots of water also, but I have two mountains dews a day...other than that, its a glass of tea for dinner or water... beer sometimes during a grill day... no coffee for me.... does my stomach something terrible

I've been drinking water with a couple of squirts of fruit punch Mio in it. Tastes really good actually. I don't know anything about the sweeteners in it (sucralose and acesulfame potasium), but hopefully they won't cause any visible tumors.

Life is too short to worry about drinking a diet coke. Thats why I drink real coke with all the high frutcose corn syrup and calories.

My wife's been trying to get me to quit diet coke. I drink 32 oz for breakfast, 32 oz for lunch and 32 oz for dinner. Wow, that sounds like a lot when I type it out like that. I've started making my own soda at home and I have on tap now so I'm drinking a lot more.

Somebody mentioned coffee. That's my other vice. If I'm not drinking soda, I'm drinking coffee. I cut down on the coffee cuz it's just keeping me awake at nights, so my diet coke intake has gone up.

Natural is always better. Brew your own and use real sugar. If you like, you can gradually cut back the sugar in each batch until you are down to about half the original recipe. Ginger Ale is my favorite...

We keep a keg of crystal light in the kegerator. I don't want to know what's in it.

Yeah I also drink a crystal light product called crystal light pure. It says no artificial sweeteners or preservatives. I'm looking at the ingredients now and I don't know what the **** half the sh it is.

I drink water, beer, and coffee daily, ice tea a few times per week, and haven't had a soda pop in nearly 5 years... I was a DP junkie.

Swmbo and I were going through a gallon or so a week mixing crystal light iced tea and lemonade. So I grabbed a 5 gallon spring water jug from work and dumped it into a keg with the mix. It's great.

4 liters (give or take) a day of Diet Coke . . . but it beats the 4-5 pots of coffee a day I was drinking

In the summer I like lemon aide but with the diabetes I cant do sugar and aspartame is the only artificial sweetener that doesnt mess up my guts (laxative properties if ya know what I mean)

Diet anything tastes sooooooo NASTY!
Drink more beer. If you can't drink beer (at work for instance) try iced tea with a bit of lemon & no sugar. If you need the fizz, try seltzer water, mineral water, or tonic water.
Regards, GF.

Switched to diet pop again due to cutting back on sugar and starches. Now I drink about 2-3 cans a week if I'm lucky (or unlucky). Usually if I'm very thirsty at work, or if we go out to fast food and I order a meal.

Usually I drink a large cup of coffee in the morning, then beer when I get home and beer for dinner. Sometimes water in between.

As much soda as I drink now I could probably get off the diet stuff and just drink the regular. I have read articles that claim that the sweetness in diet soda may in itself help keep the body from losing weight. I know several people who only drink diet pop and it hasn't helped them lose weight. And some who are diabetic who drink it all day long.

I'm no scientists, but that sound like a shtload of artificial sweetener!

Yep, simply consuming something sweet causes your body to release insulin due in part to what's called the vagal insulin reponse. What happens next is that your body is confused by the lack of sugar it sees after drinking a diet coke. Hyperinsulinemia soon sets in, which then results in hunger. This hunger typically causes a person to eat more calories than they would have consumed from a normal soda/pop. This is how diet soda can actually cause weight gain.

I know quite a few people who lost weight simply by giving up diet soda.

Incidentally, this is one reason (of many) why I started homebrewing. I found myself drinking too much soda and couldn't "kick the habit". With a fresh supply of homebrew, I pretty much stick to beer and water and can (mostly) stay away from juice & soda. Occasionally at work I get a craving for something fizzy, so those LaCroix waters are passable.

Sure, a beer may have similar (or more) calories than soda, but at least I know what's in it. +1 for avoiding ingestion of unpronounceable chemicals at all costs.

Years ago I drank at least four 20oz bottles of Coke a day. Not the diet kind, but regular Coca Cola. One day I just stopped. To this day I cannot remember why. But quitting the soda caused me to lose, at the time, 35 pounds. I will drink a soda occasionally, maybe 1 or 2 a week if even that. One thing I have noticed since I quit the soda is that I now have ZERO tolerance for caffeine. If I drink a second soda I am just climbing the walls and am jittery as all hell. I just can't handle it. I will NEVER take an Excedrine. I would rather have a headache. Now I drink mostly water. Sometimes juice or milk.

Carbonator carp, lemon juice, grated ginger, stevia extract, filtered water, empty 2L soda bottles....
Diet, all natural ginger ale. Simple and cheap.
