Oh... complain.... I thought you were conforming for the man or somethin...

Your buddy probably doesn't want the headache of separating out the bottles, just my guess though.

EDIT: I see you fixed it.

ask what his favorite beer is and offer to brew him up some in exchange for some bottles? or just ask for an application and start working there and saving them yourself?

How about actually going to the bar and picking them up after closing? Rather than depending upon your buddy to do it at 2am?

I offered to pick them up but he keeps telling me that the bartenders are forgetting. It just pisses me off that it is an agent of mine in my real estate office & i help him out a bunch with other stuff encluding running stuff to the local land fill & he cant even save me a case a week. that all i aske for. I just Pissed LOL still am LOL :ban:

If he's like any other small business owner, he's got 857 things to do at any given point, so I'd cut him some slack.

You could offer to work for the night and help him out, I'm sure he'd appreciate that. Then you could take back all the bottles you wanted.

Or, just sit at the end of the bar with a pint glass and a cardboard box, yelling at the bartenders every time they go to toss a bottle. I'm sure the ladies will be swarming all over you by 2:00 AM...

I'm a small business owner & i still help this fool out. It just pisses me off cause he always is wondering what i am brewing & wants free beer but can help me out with bottles

Here's an idea: if he won't or can't help you out, then stop helping him out until he does/can. Every time he needs something from you, just say, "aww, dude, sorry, no can do. See ya!"

Maybe after getting snubbed a few times, he'll take the hint.

why cant i get a pal of mine who owns a bar to save me bottles. I told him i only need like a case a week easy. jesus christ
I just had to bitch.

From my understanding it could be against the law to collect anything from the bar for re-use. I'm pretty sure this is the case in good old VA. But....anything outside of the bar shouldn't be a problem. I know that you can not bring any kinda of bottle (even water/ soda) into a bar here. I would just go in once a week and barback and collect a few that way. Hell you might be able to get a months fill in one night if your lucky.

Like i said i have to help him out cause he is an agent in my office & i make money off of him. I wish he could do his own work

If youa re making money off someone, they aren't a 'pal' they're a business associate that you are friendly with. That changes the entire dynamic and certainly puts a different light on the situation.

This is a friend of yours? And you are doign favors for him? Are you doing them excepting to be re-imbursed, or just to be nice. If he is a friend he would do it if he could. If you were his friend, you wouldn't expect it from him at all. (my opinion).

Do nice things to be nice.

AFAIK you can take bottles fromt eh bar for re-use as long as it's not for resell. WE have deposit here in MI, so I can just buy them nearly anywhere for 10 cents each.

from my experience working in a bar, we had to smash all the glass bottles before trashing them b/c of a city ordinance that would fine you for "re-issuing/re-using" used beer bottles... it also was in place so that children, bums, etc. couldn't go through our trash and "sweat" the alcohol bottles to get drunk.

check with your local township/city to see if you have the same ordinance in place... i wouldn't risk my bar's reputation and licenses b/c a co-worker of mine wanted the used bottles.

exactly.

No, you never said you had to help him out, you just said he's an agent and you do help him out. If you're helping him out in exchange for making you money, then I don't believe he owes you a thing. If he's taking advantage of you because you need him, then perhaps you need to reevaluate your relationship with him.

Seems like you have a decent enough job/small business to just go to the LHBS and buy a case of 22 oz bottles for $9.95. Much easier than leaning on someone else and getting all grumpy about it.
