Hi, I am newer to home brewing and have only done mr. beer until now and I recently stopped in a brew supply store and bought a few things I thought I might need for my next batch on impulse. I should have researched more but I thought I have read enough to know what I need but after looking further into it I realized I was far more uneducated on the subject that I thought.

Here is what I bought:

3.3 lbs CBW Bavarian Wheat Pure Malt Extract (LME)
1 lb CBW Sparkling Amber DME
1 Oz Cascade Hopunion Hops
1 Oz Sweet Orange Peel

I also bought Safale Us-05 Dry Ale Yeast and PBW (Powder Brewery Wash)

My current equiptment is more than lacking. i have a Mr. Beer 2.25 gal or 8.5 L (as recommended) and only a large cooking pot, and bottles and caps.

What I am asking is am I able to make a beer with what I have? I was going for something like a blue moon but am far off the clone recipes I seen after I impulse bought lol.

I would like to know if what I intend to do will work or not. I feel the ones that have been doing this a while would know best, thanks in advance!

I would like to do a partial boil due to my limited pot space on my stove maybe 2 gal with just 1/4 wheat LME and 1/4 oz hops 30 min into boil then another 1/4 oz hops 45 into boil and my sweet orange peel the last 10 min of the 1hr boil, then I would like to add the rest of my Wheat LME to the wort then transfer to my 8.5 L Mr Beer Fermenter with 2 L water already in it and then add the wort and then top off with water to the 8.5 L and add my dry yeast and let ferment for 10 or 14 days then bottle?

I am new and not sure if what I am wanting to do will work or not? I still need to buy a hydrometer to measure gravity and I am about to upgrade all my equipment but for this week will this work?

Will it make beer....yes! well I guess that is good, but what kind of beer should I expect using this method, and is there any recommended amendments to my method? I am sure I could do something better than the noob way I am trying it lol, just wondering if anyone has any recomendations to the boil or wart or amounts of what I have on hand? Thanks guys!:mug:

punching in your numbers looks like it should make a nice, slightly hoppy American wheat. although if the orange is noticeable it would really be a specialty beer.

that kinda what I wanted , but I was going for more of a blue moon type but after more research I need to upgrade my equipment and methods quite a bit, but even if I do , what can I do with a small pot on a kitchen stove? any ideas with the ingredients listed in my above post? any recommendations?

I'm not sure if I ever actually had a Blue Moon but as I understand it's really more of an American style wheat than a Belgian wit beer. What you have is just fine for a 2.25 gal American wheat. I'd actually leave out the amber extract and just go with the wheat LME, do something like 0.5 oz cascade at 60 and the other half at flameout. Add the orange peel at the end of boil and top off in your fermenter as you laid out. Should give you around 1.053 and 20 IBU. Depending on your AA's and if you want a few less IBU you could do 1/3 oz at 60 and 2/3 at flameout.

Well I couldnt wait lol, i brewed 11 days ago and bottle carbinate and i had a couple in the 750ml mr beer bottles and felt one after only 3 days of carbonation and the bottle was tight so i threw it in the freezer for about 30 min and poured in a frosted glass and tasted... i fermented in primary for 9 days then bottled and carbed for 3 ...so far, but i had to sample because i was told wheat beers are better young and fresh and that conditioning doesnt really help them. Well, this beer taste awesome. Need just a hair more carbonation but the flavor is a cross between a blue moon and an ipa, i will try to be a little more paient with the other bottles but a week tops. Anyone else have good beer that fast or should i try to let them condition longer?
