Hook me up, what I-Tunes do I need to add to my collection? :ban::rockin::fro::rockin::ban:

There is just too much. Go to the website of your favorite classic rock station and get some ideas. Most of them keep an updated list of the last 10 songs played on the front page of the website.

Oh, how about going off mainstream. The things hidden in the spaces between the mega bands.

Maybe some Strawberry Alarm Clock
King Crimson
Quicksilver Messenger Service
Pat Travers

Tons of great bands out there that never got their props.

I'm assuming you already have Dark Side of the Moon. Other than that...well, I'm listening to some Van Morrison right now and it's pretty darn good.

Well we have to clarify here - do you want "Classic" or "Jurassic"

Classic rock artists that I would include might be -
Steppenwolf
Montrose (Maybe even older Van Halen - can Van Hagar be considered classic rock?)
CCR
The Who
The Stones (almost a MUST)
Even some abstract classic rock via the likes of -
Devo
The Cars
Kraftwerk
The GoGos

Ahhhhh, the memories...
Thanks bud!

Yeah, go with Pandora. You can tell it if you like or don't like a song, and it'll keep spitting new ones at you. Summer always calls for the Allman Brothers at Fillmore East, in my opinion.

Try out Pandora. Pick a song/band you like, then start clicking like/dislike as it picks tunes.

+2 on that. I've actually found some good bands via Pandora. Just make sure you stay on top of the like/dislike for a bit and it will come around to stuff you like and may have not heard before.

Also. Check out the Hellacopters. They are a Swedish band that started out doing punk rock(which I like) but have kind of evolved into a classic rock feel(that I also like).

+1

Pandora has altered though, even without deselecting songs. A while back I would start off with a favourite band, and it would play some stuff that I'd never heard before which I liked.

These days, I plug in King Crimson, Jethro Tull or Gong and it just goes on to play tracks 95% of which are from my record collection in the 70's regardless of which band I start with......It's a bit spooky!!

I too revert back to the 70s, but on my mp3 player I also have Buck Cherry, Marilyn Manson, Blur, 311, Sublime, Biohazard, Blink 182, Dave Mathews, Chevelle, Coldplay, etc...

You forgot Tom Petty. After seeing Nugent on the list, I know have the song "Paralyzed" running through my head.
I'm on a mission of mercy. I gotta testify. You lost your emotions. You're paralyzed....

earth wind classic rock?

ok....how bout Parliament then?
hall & oates? that leads me into ALL the Philly Sound artists....I won't be able to stop

For what its worth, I found this one band that was quite awesome. The re-release was in 2002, but the songs were originally recorded in 73-76. The band is call Pentagram.... the 2002 album is called "First Daze Here" ... definitely has the Led Zep / Black Sabbath feel ... songs have an interesting diversity to them.... also, some other quasi-obscure classic rock [some international]: cactus, mountain, blue cheer, hawkwind, lucifer's friend, amon duul, leafhound, atomic rooster....

So with all the bands listed thats about 10 grand on itunes.time to get azereus 2.5 my friend.Oh and early steve miller FTW!

So many of the artists I was going to mention have already been mentioned; but there are still a few left that should be mentioned. Some may say "that's not rock" others may say "that's not classic," but they all work in my opinion. In no particular order, a few of them are:

Wild Cherry, David Gilmour (solo), Patti Smith, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Jim Carrol Band, AC/DC (with Bon Scott), EARLY Charlie Daniels Band, Kiss, Rush, Santana, The Eagles, Steely Dan, Warren Zevon, Fleetwood Mac, Emerson Lake & Palmer, War, The Surfaris, Heart, Jackson Browne, Savoy Brown, Paul McCartney & Wings, The Spinners (cuz "Rubberband man" ROCKS!), The Romantics, The Kinks, Supertramp, Lynrd Skynrd, Big Brother & The Holding Company, Tommy James & The Shondells, The Crystals, The Doors, etc...

Of course there are so many, many more. I hope you find some tunes you like. Regards, GF.
