Hey all

So i'm making a pumpkin ale for the holidays...and i messed up real bad!!!!

I added way too much spice, it asked for 1 tblsp and i put 1 oz ( i misread the instructions) :(

Can i save it? or is it just a lost cause? :(

Thanks for any help!!!

It's done. Throw in the towel. Send it my way and I'll dispose of it properly at no charge to you.

:D

Seriously though, there's been far worse things done to beer than a bit too much spice (most of which I've done...). Depending on which spice you were using, it might be over-the-top, or it might be the greatest mistake you've ever brewed! I'd give it an extra week or 2 (or 3) to bottle/keg condition, and you'll most likely have beer in the end.

Spices, oak, even too much hops will all fade with age. So if it's too strong when you first crack open a bottle, you'll notice that it will mellow a few weeks later.

thanks for the insight guys...i guess ill just wait and see..

also a friend of mine mentioned that i could try dry hopping the batch to bring back some of the bitterness...

could that possibly stabilize the spices taste and/or power?
