So, I wasn't really planning on brewing last night, but I had a few and my starter was ready, I had all the ingredients I needed for my Bavarian Hefe, so I figured what the hell.

I get my water boiling, add half my DME, add my bittering hops, go watch TV for an hour and have a few more beers (no flavor or aroma hops in this one.) After my timer goes off I go to the kitchen, give my pot an ice bath, get my wort down to pitching temp, add my top off water, add my yeast... then I turn around and see the other half of my DME sitting on the counter. DOH!

I was already at 5.5 gallons, so there was no way I was going to be able to boil the DME in water. Sure, I could've poured a little of my wort back into the kettle and boiled it in that, but it was getting late and I'm a fly by the seat of my pants kind of guy, so I just dumped it into my fermentor at 65 degrees and stirred like crazy.

We'll see what happens. I'm not really worried at all, just figured I'd share my stupidity with the rest of you guys, hahahaha.

Boy - I'm curious ow those will turn out. There is a lot more to the LME then just making sure it's sanitized. Chemical reactions and so forth. I bet it'll be pretty sweet but . . who knows (I don't).

I get bummed when I forget the wherlfloc LOL

I think it'll be fine. There are plenty of people that add LME and DME (myself included) to the wort after the boil with beers that turn out great (albeit, not at 65 degrees.) The only thing I was really concerned with was sanitation.

Done that exact same thing with a Hoegaarden clone. Ended up just adding the DME to it though at the very end. Didn't turn out very good..lol

you'll be fine. did the SAME THING a few batches ago. batch came out great! I'll try not to repeat this process again, but... no worries!

When you add your hops, are you supposed to continually stir it, or are you supposed to add them and let them sit for the 40 minutes or so that they are in the boil

They will float around by themselves...no need to constantly stir it
