Sitting At the Honolulu airport. Drinking as of goose island iPad and a short snifter of 15 year old Glenn Fiddich I've been here a hour. Stretching these drinks out. Time to go soon. Back to the mainland

LRB Hope to see you!

Cheers !!!

Hey guys, haven't seen much activity in the past cpl days. I forgot to fill the night time meds so I've been up all night unable to sleep. We're expecting some severe weather today, high risk for tornadoes all the way till tomorrow, so if you guys hear of random bottles of homebrew falling from the sky tonight on the news, well...It was good knowing ya. lol

On better notes, I think I Have finally found a house which will offer just about everything I need. A old co-worker of mine called me the other day when she heard I was looking for a new place to call home. It turns out, she and her husband just purchased a 50 acre farm which has a house on it that they wanted someone they knew to rent. They actually purchased this place simply to get a huge shop that the size that they were already going to be building. It was such a deal, the house was only a added bonus by the time they factored in the land.

Anyway, it's a brick 1970 house that has just been roofed which offers about 4-5 acres of yard, shade trees and garden space. It has a two bay shop with a cement floor, installed power gen set which supplies power to the whole house for power outages. The house itself is a 3 bed, 3 bath and full unfinished basement and two car garage. I think total it has about 3400 square feet with 2300 or so of that heated/ac. IN comparrison, the house I have now is only 1300sf. All this for only 300 bucks more a month than i'm paying now.

I'm trying to not get too ahead of myself since I've not seen the actual inside. The outside looks awesome! They told me new hardwood floors were recently installed, but the bathroom and kitchen was not updated. This scares me because I remember the puke green and yellow colors I grew up with in the 70's. lol

The house sits well off the road and offers complete privacy. I would be lying if I told you about all the brewing possibilities that are popping up in my head right now.

My problem is, the house that I am staying in now should close out by the end of the year. The house that the people are moving into from the place that I'm looking at also does not close out till the end of the year, and by contract, they don't have to be out till Feb. This leaves me with about 2-3 weeks that I will have to find some place to call home. I'm at loss as to how to handle this and keep it affordable. Maybe I can find some short term hotel/inn somewhere that offers cheap weekly rates.

We'll see how it works out.

Congrats on the find. Hope it all works out. My only suggestion is to talk with both your current landlord and with your future one and see what can be sorted out. You never know, often concessions can be made and cool landlords are happy to work with you. I would advise getting everything packed up into a moving truck you can have for the duration and have the necessities packed separately so that they can be the last thing out and first things into where you are going. Worst case scenario it doesnt hurt to call a hotel or what have you and ask them if they can make a deal for an extended stay as that can get expensive otherwise. Were you local I would see what I could arrange as well.

Would like to wish all you guys a Merry Christmas. One of my favorite things to do each year is to make a personalized video to send my greetings to those I know. While I was not able to do a new video this year, I would like to send one from last.

Hope each of you have a blessed day celebrating this day in a way that brings good to your heart.

Merry Christmas friends.

Can't wait for this year to be over. 2016 has a very low bar as far as I am concerned to be a better year. I likely will have no internet over the next few days (but maybe), so Happy New Year a little early. Also, my supporting membership may disappear but it will only be briefly I am sure. I hope you all brew over the Holiday!

LRB, best wishes to you for the new year my friend. I'm at my son's house in SoCal the last few days but leaving tomorrow. Time flew. Still look forward to having a home brew with you, I'll be back in May for my daughters graduation. Hope we can get together then.

Hang in there Albert.

Well guys, my time in my old pad is drawing to a close. The house closed today and so I have until the 9th to get squared away. I found a really nice place that I will be able to call home. The road to get there will be a bit tough as it will require me to be homeless for a month. I'm going to suck it up and do some road trips to some favorite campgrounds and go hiking - a bunch. lol

In the end, the sacrifice will be well worth it. I have known the owners for about 20 years and they are simple, home grown farm people who value honesty and hard work. I trust they will be great landlords.

I started moving today. It's going to be a PITA since I typically have to do this stuff myself. Hoping I can pull a few favors in to help me move the heavy stuff. Sad thing is, in about 4-6 weeks, I gotta do all this all over again when the other house opens up. No Pain, No Gain.

I'm torn on what to do with this old desktop. Should it be a while before I return, happy Brewing everyone!

Ken

Congrats Ken! Sounds like a great place you're moving to. I was "homeless"for six months once I rented my house out, I was moving to Hawaii. Six months without the comfort of my own bed and surroundings. I was lucky though, I could bunk at work much of the time, others at a friends - a few days at a time. And a lot of road trips. It was humbling. I spent more than a few nights in the back of my car. Did all my laundry at a laundromat. And became an expert with a George Forman grill and microwave. Can't believe I did that for six months. It's a distant memory now

Whatever you need do just do it with no apologies to yourself. Cheers and Happy NewYears!

I think you are correct. My memory likes to make words to songs. Heaven knows I'm old enough, well not that old. But should at least get the song correct

Been thinking about brewing soon. Crazy thing is; maybe not. This forum makes me think I should be....erg. Erg erg. Yuck. My dog just farted. Nasty stench I shouldn't write about that but, man, some things stop you in your tracks

I have plenty of two row, and pale ale grain, a pound of cascade and other hops. I got 4 packs of SO5 and all the equipment to brew - less a fermentation chamber. I think the lack of one is what holds me up. I can't explain it anyway else

One thing I've learned about many good folk on this HBT site. Extremely creative people here. Also purists that for sure. I'm not pure to beer though. I like IPA, pale ale, and some stout. That's it. Put any fruit, bacon or chicken in my beer and you're worth shooting. (Not really, said that for effect). I'have a pretty simple beer palette. I drank some bud light today - gave me a sore throat and turbulent flatulence. Pretty sure once I start brewing again I will only brew and stick to a couple beer recipes. Id rather make a great beer , maybe two. That's it. Just how's I am.

I don't blame you at all Dan. Make what you like. Who cares what everyone else thinks. Honestly, if you have a couple beers that you really like, do you really need to make the honey badger mango shandy with garlic and cloves? Brew what you like. And a Happy New Year to all of you and your families.

This thread is a year older and we are too. Some days I look in the mirror and still see a young man. Other days I look at the grey in my hair and baggy eyes and see an old dude. Doesn't matter, time will move on. Nothing a person can do to change that

I figure, keep yourself in decent shape and enjoy becoming older. Time stops for no man, or is it time stands for no man. I don't know. I wish I could stay young forever but got to admit. I enjoy growing older. How else will I see my children grow?

I complain a lot and take blessings for granted. If I make one vow for 2016 it will be to appreciate.

Doubt I'll be able to follow through on that cause I'm pretty much a jerk.

I'm not really, but it sure would make life easier if I were - HA, NOT!

You probably won't be surprised that I'm a John Wayne fan. I almost whole heartedly believe in reincarnation. I'm not a freak, I have an old soul though. Maybe I just want to believe that

Here's something John Wayne said. Maybe not original. I don't know

I heard this first from Duke

"Tomorrow is the most important thing in life
Comes into us at midnight very clean
It's perfect when it arrives and puts itself into our hands
It hopes we've learned something from yesterday"

Sorry for the longish rambling

Just a question for you

Day to day. What's a good routine?

Sleep, food, exercise I don't know.
