I just got my first order from hopsdirect.com and I've never used/seen/held leaf hops because I don't have a LHBS and have just been using pellets. All I want to do is open this bag and smell a handful of hops. I don't have a vacuum sealer and I'm not brewing until Monday though. Would it be that big a deal exposing them to the air a few days earlier considering I'm not planning on using them all?

No, just wrap them up tight and put them in the fridge after opening. Don't open the entire bag, just poke a small hole and smell in the goodness!
