But I do love Belgian beers.

I'm sure this has been brought up before. I'm sure it's been brought up in a "pet peeves" thread I've even posted in at some point.

Don't care though.

Does anyone else get the same seething hatred that I do when someone references a "Belgium" beer they brewed?

We don't brew America IPAs. Or England Browns. (Although I'll admit that some German styles are an exception to that).

So why do people brew Belgium beers?

It's BELGIAN! BELGIAN! Say it with me! BELGIAN!

:mad::mad::mad:

If this is beyond irk, to "makes me want to smash my monitor/phone", does that mean I have anger issues?

If you want to destroy your stuff for the sake of someone else's stupidity/misinformation, then yes, you have an anger issue.

I am with you, though. I am befuddled as to why this continues to come up as an issue. I thought they taught these kind of language rules in middle school.

Isnt there a country named Belgium? :eek: Ut oh tomatoes tomahtoes. I prefer Belgian beers from Belgium? Not USA Belgium beers? Or shouldnt US beers brewed this style be classified as Belguim instead of Belgian because they are really not from Belgium? Im lost. Cheers.

When you brew America Ambers and we start speaking England (you know, because we don't live in England so we can't speak English).

In the mean time, the rules of the English language dictate it as Belgian, not Belgium. Call it Belgian-styled if you want.

Couldn't agree more.
I'm sitting here sipping an Alaska Amber, whilst checking on my Germany Maibock in the fermenter.... :)

Hey, I'd be fine using Münchner Helles or Düsseldorfer Alt to keep it consistent (as is already the case with Dortmunder Export or Berliner Weisse)

It is rather amusing that some call them Belgium,rather then Belgian,as in a beer being from Belgium. also interesting to note that there are a few dialects of English...UK English,Australian English,South African English & American English. You'd think some could do gooder that that?...:D

...a little something I saw in a political cartoon years ago when the quality of our teachers/schools was in question. The kid answers wrong,& the teacher says, "C'mon,you can do gooder then that"!
