I think that BN is trying to compare it too much to the Craft brewer one which was professionally edited and mastered while the video done by the people here was done by amateurs. You guys don't have thousands of dollars of video editing equipment to synch the sound from frame to frame and to take out background noise.

very late in coming, but this thread just exploded...

I put up a post at BOV (or what BOV currently is, ie separate blogs for the two authors which will hopefully be merged, but that's neither here nor there), to promote it further, address a bit of what BN was saying (I really really think we all need to shut the hell up about it here because you're not doing us any favors) and also address my concerns with the video, because I think saying 'this is the greatest and most perfectest thing ever' (sidenote: perfectest is a word but sidenote isn't) is both untrue and just encourages blind devotion, neither of which are true or desired. Don't get me wrong: this thing is awesome, and I'm damn happy to have been a part. It's not perfect, though, because what is? And also, I wasn't a big fan (or a fan at all, really) of IAACB. I am a fan, though, of IAAHB :D

Oh, and they make fun of my audio specifically ///_- (that's my emo face)

You know, just let the BN thing go.

If someone you disagree with is making an ass of themselves, then get out of the way.

I agree. A wiser man than myself (I forget who) once said:

"Never argue with an idiot - they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience..."

I am super honored to have had any part at all in this...the only opinions I'm interested in come from HBT. I had the easy part of reciting some lines! The writers and editors deserve huge props for running it into the end-zone and getting it done.

I think it warrants to mention what was echoed earlier: it was compiled by 22 strangers from 13 states. Additionally for those of you who have ever done post-production AV work will realize the hours that went into this 4:30 minute video-- too many.

So jamesnw did a hell of a job, and for a bunch of hacks that enjoy great beer and are not videographers by any stretch of the imagination, it is great.

The entire time I have been involved, my intent has always been for the "spirit" to shine through more than anything. It is the message afterall that is important! We must share OUR great beer, and RDWHAHB!

Prost!

Who's on the BN Sunday Session show? The host sounds like Justin, who I met at NHC 2008. He seemed like a good guy then, but comes across as a real prick in this episode.

I'll admit that I've never listened to this show before, and I probably never will again. I didn't hear anything about beer for the first 10 minutes and even then it was only mentioned in passing over the next 10-15 minutes. A 261 minute show? These guys don't really have the personalities to carry a show for 4+ hours. They'd be better off cutting out all of the crap, getting rid of the token chick and cutting the show down to the roughly 30-45 minutes of actual content that brewers are actually interested in.

I have a BN hop grenade tee shirt. I think I may go home and pee on it tonight. :D

+1 I met Justin in Cinci too and he seemed like a great guy too, but he really made an ****** out of himself with this Sunday show (which is pretty lame) that I never download or listen to in the first place. His rant about it starts at 21:57 into the show.

Perhaps a spoof on Justin's Sunday Session is in order.............

of course there's always the "never teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig"

Great video. I'm gonna film parts of my brew session this evening (if my starter actually starts ) and play around with some editing to share with friends

Loved the video, feel like an ass for not knowing this thing was going on until now. I've never listened to Sunday Show, from what I just heard before and after their "commentary" it's pretty clear that I haven't missed a damn thing. Look at the people like Papa Charlie and the Calagiones who've been re-posting and linking to this thing, then look at Justin, and tell me who the ********* is.

Props to all who put this together; makes me proud to be a part of this community.

Well, I think it needs to be said again.....

Great job everyone! It's not like we had thousands of dollars in equipment and let alone a paid staff to work on this. It is what it is and it is great :mug:

Wow! I'm not sure how this video slipped under my radar! Didn't see it until today. Fantastic job with this video everyone!

There will always be critics, no matter the medium or audience - don't sweat the TBN comments. This video is awesome!

That's great! I'm going to find that on You Tube and link it to my brewing website.

Well Done!

Great vid! Kudos to the editor. I have tried splicing multiple vids together before, not an easy task. Inspiring.

I like how the guys with the "morning zoo" style show are knocking people making a fun homebrew video.

Since someone said "around the 22 minute mark" - I started in around 20 minutes just to make sure I caught it, and they spent like 2 minutes talking about someone's sunburn and burping into the microphone, then trashing the video for having some background noise.

I actually heard one part where someone seemed to say the point of homebrewing is to just get drunk. Sad. If non-homebrewers ever heard their podcast, they would think we're a bunch of college hooch heads, then say that this video like we're doing a disservice to the homebrew community.

I stopped listening to BrewStrong for that very reason. They were wacky zany trying to be XXXXXX-TReEeEeEeMM! I'm sure they're good at what they do. I don't doubt that at all, but if someone is a ******, they're a ******...

I thought the HBT video was over the top and corny, but that was what made it awesome... F the BN...

I agree.. I get the sunday session podcasts all the time.. It doesnt surprise me that those guys said what they did about the video.. Thats kinda who they are.. They are pretty disrespectful.. if "Papa" Charlie likes it and is linking it who cares what those guys think..

Besides have you ever heard when Justin talks about his brewdays?? Its pretty bad.. It seems when they are podcasting half of them play World of Warcraft.. I am not sure if they care about brewing that much.. At least thats what I get from them when I listen to them.. It sucks to have listen for 3 hours to get about 30min of tips

I wasn't following the other thread and then I leave for the weekend and you guys go out and became famous.

Loved the video. Nicely done Gentlemen!

Some of the shows are good. Sometimes they are funny. I mostly enjoy the interviews and like it when they actually discuss brewing and have conversations about techniques and ingredients. Sometimes the shows are nothing but a few hours of drunk guys telling jokes. Waste of time. I get Bob and Tom on DVR every day. Much better IMO.

But, they have a right to give their opinion, like it or not. Just as everyone has a right to dis their shows. I know I've heard disparaging comments about some of the shows from guys on here. Works both ways dudes. Different strokes for different folks (except the wife is now alseep, so I guess I know what kind of strokes I'll be getting tonight...)
