Hello!

I wasn't able to find this in any other threads, so I apologize if it is somewhere. I recently picked up my first beginner's kit, and the hydrometer included had a few pieces of packing foam in the tube to keep the hydrometer from breaking. The problem I'm having is that the foam is stuck so far down in the bottom, that I can't get that piece out. I wasn't sure if having that foam in the bottom would cause inaccurate readings, or if anyone had any suggestions for getting it out.

Thanks!

If it's not in contact with your hydrometer then it's not affecting the readings, but it's probably not super sanitary so drink or dispose of the sample after you're done

Are you talking about the plastic case that your hydro came in or are you talking about an actual sample tube? Big difference. the plastic case should have a piece of foam in the bottom so when you put your hydro back in it, it doesn't break. But that's not what you should be taking samples and readings in. Sample tube on the left, hydro case on the right.

That explains it. The kit apparently didn't include a sample tube. Thanks for that clarification.
