Hello!

What is going on with my hydrometer or did I do something wrong?

I used 6 lbs DME, a mini mash (1 kbs corn, 1 2 row, 1 lbs speciality) 5 oz corn sugar.

I pitched yeast, been about 8 hours, do I need to take action? Add water?

It happens to the best of us.
I had my saltwater fish tank set up and all the sudden I was losing fish left and right. After going through a ton of money and a bunch of fish I stopped and started tracing things back to the beginning. Ended up some how I grabbed my brewing refractometer and not my salinity refractometer. 😤

Thanks guys, figured I'd leave this thread up for other rookies. I doubled up on my "oops" by calculating with LME but using DME. Looks like I have an IMPERIAL cream ale in the works (7.5 ABV according to Brewers Friend, not to mention 8 oz of vanilla bean vodka extract before bottling). As long as its drinkable im OK with it haha. I have about 20 IBUs which should still be enough.
