I was just going to get a gravity reading to see if I can bottle tomorrow night but I was clumsy and dropped the hygrometer. Shattered everywhere sending little lead beads across the kitchen floor! The LHBS isn't exactly local at 45min. away. Anyone know where I can get one at a big chain store or something?

Unfortunately, it's a specialty instrument, and you'll very likely need to find a homebrew store or online source. What was the recipe, and how long has it been fermenting? Maybe we can give you some rough guidelines in the absence of empirical data.

FYI, it's HYDROMETER. A hygrometer is used to measure humidity.

I just bought my 3rd hydrometer (in a year) today. they are too easy to break. When in doubt, let that beer sit for a little while longer, just to ensure you don't bottle too early.

Right, kind a typo / slip. I've been a cigar fan longer than a homebrewer and I was a bit flustered after just breaking my hydrometer.

The recipe is here.

It said ferment for 10 days. And its a hef so its meant to be a little young. I brewed on 5/29. SG was 43 with an FG at 12. I measured 183 on 6/3. Maybe I will just pick two (three or four) up tomorrow if my LHBS is open.

Keep all hydrometers in the cart within arms reachs and enjoy the ride. No seriously, what the recipe and the hours femernting, temps, etc.

After buy another hydrometer last week to replace the one I dropped, it made me wonder why those things have to be made out of glass. You would think some good plastic would work fine. Except then they'd sell a fraction of what they do now.
