I'm going to brew a golden ale using US-05. I heard about rehydrating yeast. How does that process work?
Thanks!

Take 1 cup of water and boil in the microwave for 2 minutes, cool to 90oF, pitch packet of dry yeast and cover with sanitized foil or wrap and allow to sit for a bit. I usually rehydrate at the start of brew day and allow to sit until I'm ready to pitch, by that time it's pretty close to pitch temp anyways and already beginning to bloom.

I normally heat up around 1/2 cup of water, I generally use bottled spring water, to around 80-85 degrees, dump in the yeast, cover with sanitized foil and let it sit ten minutes. I then stir it all together, replace the cover and let it sit another ten minutes, stir it one last time before dumping in my wort.
