Making a Dorian Doppleboch?
Hurricane Helles?
Windblown Weissbier?

Florida man may be a little backwards, but we are not savages: we will have our Octoberfest beer when the weather gets cold. Planning outdoor party around the fire pit with homemade sausages and beer. Cold weather isn't really a think until New Years, so no outdoor Octoberfest parties until then.

Check it out: weather approaching from the east - Tampa Bay is obscured by wall of rain, it's about to overtake the hospital, heading for my neighborhood. I took this from 400' up with my drone.

Click link: it's a 360° pano. You can drag it around and zoom with mouse or on mobile.

Good luck to you, and everyone else in the affected zone. Hope you make it thru with minimal impact.

Brew on :mug:

that just looks like San Fran fog....and this is the first i heard about a storm....(i don't watch the news)

'Tis a brave man that sends a drone aloft to fly before a hurricane!

Not brave. Hurricane is on the other side of the state. It's just a storm, perhaps a distant band from the hurricane, but more likely just our daily drenching. But I will say that FL gets some pretty epic storms in the summer. When accompanied by lightning and thunder, it can be profoundly impressive to those who haven't seen it.

I fly my drone in all weather. It gets wet all the time and can handle > 20 mph wind no problem.

Wait- you're having an Octoberfest party??? And you didn't invite me?????

It would be my greatest pleasure. Really. You and Silent Bob.

Haha, the Massholes call him "Card Bob"- short for a cardboard cut out Bob- but he DOES speak. I swear. Just with me around, he doesn't have the opportunity.

If you let us know when you're partying, I'll try my best to work it out. I have to get someone to watch my dog while we're gone, but that's not too hard I wouldn't think.

Your dog can come along. You can stay, I've got loads of room. Cardboard bob and I will have fun tending the fire.

We should all show up to passed's Oktoberfest party. That'll show @paulthenurse who our true imaginary friends are. ;)

Hell yes! I'll even pick you up at the airpot!

@passedpawn You do have room for us on blow up mattresses on the pool deck, right? That's my plan for now- you may want to inform your wife. Toby will love it.

I'm not sure I can make Masstoberfest, much less a trip to Florida.

So, in short, my air mattress spot on the pool deck is available.

Wow! I've always wanted a Hasselblad.

Haha, it's not one of those medium format monsters. It's just the little camera on the front of my drone. It's a 1" sensor, so it's bigger than normal consumer drone cams, but not even a full frame sensor, let alone the big sensors that Hasselblad is known for. Still, it's moderately fast glass at f2.8, pretty good for a drone. It'll record in 4k 30fps h.265 Dlog 10-bit color.

Nothing I have posted here shows off its capabilities, believe me. It is a LOT of fun.

Good luck bro. Being from south Louisiana I know the anxiety of a bad hurricane looming. Be safe.
