Howdy all,

I used to brew in college. I had a job next to the apiary program at U.C. Davis so access to unlimited amounts of free honey meant lots of mead and ambrosia. I also did some extract brewing. This was all after stumbling across Charlie's book and Zymurgy at the University library in 1993. It's been about 12 years since I've brewed anything.

I just got back from a trip to the Czech Republic and the exposure to such good beer gave me the bug again.....

Man, how things have changed! There is so much more info out there now than when I first started brewing. It is a wonderful new world we live in :)

I just got back from the LHBS and picked up a "Beer Kit" and a partial mash recipe for a Pale Ale. I also picked up some fresh Amarillo because the "recipe" that came with my kit included only pelletized cascades.

I'll post the results as soon as I have some.

Welcome back . It's a new world in Homebrewing. It's amazing how the market has changed in the last 10 years. If you can't find what you need at your local HBS you can usually find it via the web. Ain't it great!!

Fortunately San Francisco area seems to have a few good homebrew shops.

I am really excited about how much more information there is for homebrewers now. Having brewing assistant programs alone is a huge improvement and makes designing a recipe sooo simple. Now I just have to find out why my Pale Ale recipe is rated as 35 out of 50 flavor points in BeerSmith.

I'm finding myself planning my next beer already. I think I need to start a christmas ale soon if it is going to be ready in time.
