Hi,

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum.

I've got quite a few different grains/malts and hops left over from different brews. I'm sure there is a site somewhere where I can throw all the details in and it'll recommend recipes that would utilise what I've got left over.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

My take is that the ingredients in a recipe are a lot less important than a solid brewing process.

By that I mean, some people make pale ales with 10% crystal, some use only base malt. Some add oats, rye, even a small amount of chocolate malt and still get a great pale ale. Likewise you can sub hops pretty hard and still get great, but different, results, providing you are respectful of AA ratings and the hop's purpose.

So any recipe has a lot of flexibility in terms of ingredients.

To be fair I'm a 1 gallon brewer so experimentation is less risky, but I have no problem butchering someone's recipe to fit with what I have on hand.

Most call this Frankenbeer... Search that and you will find some recipes... Most also say they wind up with a decent beer. Or just play around (in some software) to see where the numbers go before you mash 10 pounds of crystal malts, though... If that is all you have on hand, things will probably get weird. A fair amount base malt is a good idea, even if that is mixed up as well.

Thanks all.

At the moment I'm only brewing small batches (1 gallon) so I think I might just go for the experimental 'Frankenbeer' and see what happens. Not like I'm wasting a lot of time and effort, and may end up with the best beer in the world..... or will end up not having to buy drain cleaner for a while! :)
